Boracay: Pedis and Golfing

We decided to take a little (little) break from the sun, so we took the girls out for pedicures. It was an interesting experience. There were at least 6 employees there, but only 2 worked on the 4 of us, while the rest sat and watched some crazy Asian reality show.
So they started on the little girls. They got their fingernails and toenails painted.Addie is asking the girl if she can have 3 different colors.
Laci and I soaked in these portable foot baths (you know the kind that everyone has given to their mom for mother's day?) We were looking forward to a great foot rub, since we were so disappointed with our massages before, but were left again unsatisfied.
We thought at least we'd get a good paint job. The pictures are less funny, but believe me, we got a good laugh. I have a sparkle on each point of my flower and we both have one on every single toe. "Less is more" is not very popular here! (mine are the darker toes)

Not to mention my paint job already looks 2 weeks old!
Oh Well! We still had a blast and only spent $16 for me and my girls.

While the girls got pedis, the boys golfed.
The pool at the course

Afterward we met up for lunch and the rest of the day on the beach.

Boracay: Massages

We hired a couple of masseuses to come up the other night. We made good use of the bed on our back patio. Laci and I had the same girl and were left so disappointed. The guys had a great experience, so next time we will just have her come and do everyone.

Still some nice couple bonding.

John and I stuck with feet and legs

Laci went for the back, but was left unsatisfied.

Afterward we laughed at a few episodes of "The Office" before calling it a night.

Boracay: Sunset Dinner

We wanted to show Todd and Laci the night life (and by "night life" I mean we were home by 8:30) on the beach, so we decided to go for a sunset dinner. Check me out with a bra and lip gloss on. And check out those cute chicas hanging on me. (Oh, and who's in love with my $3 bag?)
So this is the cutest story... We were all getting ready to go and I came out of my room to see Austin sitting there with tennis shoes on. Weird. I reminded him that we were going to the beach, but he assured me he knew what he was doing. Whatev. Then Todd walked out of his room-wearing tennis shoes- OH! It all made sense. How sweet. Todd is like a fun uncle and Austin adores him.
Now where should we eat?
Here...
NO! I want to eat here...
I call here...
OK, we all decided on this buffet with these darling red chairs and tables or a pillow in the sand with a short table. It was great. We had a kids table in the sand and an adult table with chairs.
Bailey's heterochromia is very pronounced in this pic. And who wouldn't kill for those curls? And we finally get to watch the sunset

and the sailboats

And who wouldn't want to be just like this guy?
Mom, remind me again why we should always wear 3/4 sleeves...Lovers
(This pic is for Laci's mom: Look at how well we're taking care of your daughter and her husband! We think they're fantastic.)
After dinner John rode this dumpy ferris wheel with the kids
I call it the cupcake ferris wheel
We, of course, finished off the night with ice cream. What's better than that?

Boracay: Dentist and Fish Market

We had an exciting morning...
A couple days ago I started to notice some sensitivity on an upper left tooth. The next day Bailey got a nasty cough and yucky eyes, so I took her to the doctor. Lucky for me, it was a medical/dental clinic! The doctor was great. He came in in boardshorts and flip flops. He is a doctor from Manila that is doing what they call "vacation rotation." Where they come to these resort places (vacation) but are on call 24 hours a day for two weeks straight (rotation). He said "The only real vacation part is I get to wear shorts to work." For the check up and 2 prescriptions, it cost me$17 (which so wonderful because we only have catastrophic insurance, so we pay out of pocket for everything. That would've cost $200 at home). While I was there I scheduled a dentist appointment for the next day. So convenient! It's like wal-mart for medical attention.
I'm so glad I scheduled that appointment because my tooth got worse and by the end of the day it was throbbing. Laci has been wanting to have a couple of her teeth filed a little, so she decided to come with me and see about it. I was a little nervous, but the dentist, "Vivian", was very nice and knew what she was doing. Even though her room was small and hot, she seemed to have all the latest dental equipment. (Are you freaking out for me Shelbie?) So I had a filling done back in Nov. which was right next to an old one and there was a crack between the two that was causing my pain. She numbed me up good, drilled one of the fillings out, and replaced it. I did not feel a thing except a poke from the shot. The rest was COMPLETELY painless! I was amazed. The whole procedure took about 45 minutes and cost me $14. Again, it easily would've cost me $250 at home. I'm taking both my kids in for checks and fillings, if needed, while we're here. Laci got her cosmetic filing done for $4!
Then we headed to the Fish Market. It's actually a really great place. The fish part is a little scary, but it's surrounded by fruit and vegetable stands, which are surrounded by souvenir stands. So we started on the outside and worked our way in. I got the girls little matching dresses and some things for my young women for girls camp. Then we got some great fruits and veggies and made our way to the meat...
Hungry? (notice all the flies)
Check out that fish head! It's as big as Laci's head!
I bought 2 chickens from here (I don't do fish). They were whole, but I asked the cute old lady to cut them up for me. So glad I did that! She pulled some fun stuff out middle and was not so cute and old with her cleaver! Still, it cost me $5 for 2 chickens and Laci got a kilo of shrimp (which was like 4 big handfuls) for $4. (Michelle, all these prices are for you. I know you love to hear about a good bargain!)
I couldn't resist going all touristy and taking a video!

Boracay: Snorkeling

On Tuesday we rented a boat to take us on a ride all the way around the island with a stop at an incredible snorkeling spot.
Todd and Laci (our good friends) are here for 2 weeks! We love them! Todd and John have done some work together and Todd is speaking at John's seminar, so they decided to make a major vacation out of it. We are so thrilled to have them along. Todd is like a fun uncle and Laci is a fantastic shopping buddy. This is Crocodile Island. Can you see it's shaped like a crocodile?
The boat captain is good at catching fish with his hand! He would drop a piece of bread in the water and grab one from the swarm.
He was so nice to watch the little girls while we swam around. He took some great pics for us

Austin loved it! We're raising him right!

Fun for all!

Boracay: Nap Time

The other day Bailey helped me bury Austin in the sand. She thought it was so great that the next day she asked me to bury her. I didn't do a great jobAgain she asked me to bury the next day. I did a better job this time. I dug a nice hole for her to lay in and covered her with cool sand. What would you do in that situation?
I am thinking this will have to be a daily routine. She slept for a good hour! We got lots of strange looks from passersby. Austin and Adeline just played around her. I had to keep reminding them that there was a body under there!
SHE'S ALIVE!
